A Dorset Idea Built from the Ground Up
After nearly two decades in the trade, Josh knew exactly how much time gets wasted when you leave site to grab materials. From plasterboard to timber, tradespeople often lose hours every week fetching supplies — and that’s where the idea for Quick Trade Direct came from.
“You can get food or groceries delivered within the hour,” says Josh. “But for builders, nothing like that existed. I wanted to fix that.”
Quick Trade Direct now helps local tradespeople order and receive materials in as little as 30 minutes, without having to down tools or waste time in traffic.
Born and Built in Bournemouth
Josh grew up in Bournemouth and spent almost 20 years in the building trade before deciding to take on a brand-new challenge. He went from running his own plastering and building company to learning business strategy, tech and marketing — all to bring his idea to life.
Launching first in Poole, Quick Trade Direct partnered with South Coast Building Supplies to pilot the service, making it easier than ever for local trades to get what they need, fast.
“It’s been a big learning curve moving from building to business,” Josh says. “But it’s great to be building something that genuinely helps local people.”
Saving Time, Supporting Trades
Early feedback from local builders has been fantastic. One customer even said the app let him finally grab a cuppa on a busy day, as the materials arrived just as he finished his tea!
As Quick Trade Direct grows, Josh and the team are looking to expand into Bournemouth and Christchurch, creating local driving jobs and more partnerships with Dorset merchants.
“This business was built in Dorset for Dorset,” says Josh. “And we’re only just getting started.”
